The elusive Kelis has relaunched her music career with a new song entitled ‘Distance’. The song is reportedly the lead single from her upcoming studio album, which is the followup to her commercially underwhelming ‘Flesh Tone’ album.

Continuing the futuristic appeal of ‘Flesh Tone’, Kelis croons through a veil of thick production on ‘Distance’ as she begs for distance from her lover. Listen to the song below to hear what she crafted during her break from the industry:

The best facet of Kelis’ music is that she is always one step ahead of her peers and ‘Distance’ is a brilliant example of that. Combining various elements of Dance and Electronica, she has made a song that sets her apart from the trendy Dance music out today. Is the track a radio hit? Hardly, but at least Kelis still has her creative edge!
