Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ album was released on April 3rd in the US and despite the remarkable succes of its ‘Pink Friday’ predecessor, the sales of the record have been far from impressive. Yet, the rapper did achieve a somewhat hollow victory today: ‘Roman Reloaded’ has been certified platinum in the US.
‘Roman Reloaded’ has officially shipped over 1 million copies in the US and earned a platinum certificated from the RIAA. However, the LP has only actually sold less than 545K copies at retail outlets in the US with consistent sales decline in each progressive week.
Hence, judging by current sales trends, ‘Roman Reloaded’ probably will not match the success of ‘Pink Friday’, which has thus far sold 1.84 million copies in the US since November 2010. In fact, the latter topped the 545K total of ‘Roman Reloaded’ in lass than three weeks.
To date, ‘Roman Reloaded’ has only generated a lone top 10 hit single on the Billboard Hot 100. ‘Starships’ has peaked at #5 on the chart whereas Minaj’s other releases, ‘Right by My Side (Ft. Chris Brown)’ and ‘Beez in the Trap’, stalled at #51 and #48, respectively.
