Justin Bieber is about to cement his position as one of the biggest stars on the Pop music scene. If not then at least he will enjoy the consolation prize of having the largest first week sales of 2012, courtesy of his ‘Believe’ album.
‘Believe’ is on course to sell 400K-500K copies and enter the Billboard 200 at #1 next week. The record will secure the largest opening sales of any release in 2012, surpassing the 359K copies that Madonna’s ‘M.D.N.A.’ sold in April.
Bieber’s previous studio album, ‘My World 2.0′, was released in April 2010 and sold 291K copies in its first week. To date, that LP has been certified triple platinum by the RIAA in the US, despite only generating a lone top 10 single – ‘Baby (Ft. Ludacris)’, which peaked at #5.
