Kelly Clarkson is known for her impressive covers of other artists’ songs but one selection in particular has left her competition in the dust. The first ‘American Idol’ performed a rendition of Katy Perry’s ‘Wide Awake’ at the Sleep Train Pavilion that made the original sound rather dull.
By belting freely instead of straining from her throat, Clarkson brought the true beauty of ‘Wide Awake’ to light. Of course, this doesn’t mean that Perry’s version of the tune is bad but it does highlight the stark differences between an exceptional vocalist like Clarkson and a basic Pop star.
