The 2012 Essence Music Festival was the stomping ground for some of the biggest stars in R&B this year. In addition to showings from Trey Songz and Marsha Ambrosius, Mary J. Blige and Fantasia also rocked the event, each sparkling in their own way.
Blige took the stage in a shiny gold jacket as she performed her cover of Chaka Khan’s 1983 hit ‘Ain’t Nobody’. Thankfully, the Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul kept the screaming to a minium as she gangster leaned across the stage.
Fantasia, on the other hand, was a a bit louder, thanks to her large marching band backing. Encouraging the crowd to pump their fists in support of her lyrics and new hairstyle, the singer happily sang ‘It’s All Good’ from her ‘Free Yourself’ debut album.
