Mariah Carey Plots New Album For March Release, Plans Massive TV Promo

    Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey does everything big and she is using the same approach for the promotion of her new album. In fact, the record won’t even be released until March 2013 so that its debut will coincide with the larger than life diva’s plans to launched a major media campaign.

According to Billboard, Carey’s new album has been tentatively set for a March release, just in time for the  new season of ‘American Idol’, in which she will serve as a judge, to reach full swing. Her manager, Randy Jackson, confirmed that Carey will premiere the Nick Cannon-directed video for her LP’s lead single, ‘Triumphant (Get ‘Em) (Ft. Rick Ross & Meek Mill)’, within the coming weeks.

Additionally, Carey has arranged a “big performance” for television that will also air within the coming weeks. There is no word regarding if that impending showing will be of ‘Triumphant’ or another new song from her album. Further info is expected to be shared prior to the event.

Thus far, ‘Triumphant’ has gotten off to a slow start iTunes where it peaked at #38 within the first 24 hours of its release. The song will impact Urban radio on August 13th, and its accompanying Vintage Throwback Remix and Pulse Club Remix will be available on iTunes on August 14th.

    ————————————————————————–

Doesn’t the handling of Carey’s project seem strikingly similar to Mary J. Blige’s ‘My Life II: The Journey Continues’? Think about it: just like ‘Triumphant’, Blige’s ‘Someone to Love Me (Naked) (Ft. Diddy & Lil Wayne)’ was released several months before her album hit stores (March vs November).

Yet, Carey has more resources at her disposal for promotion, thanks to ‘Idol’, so hopefully her album sales will be more impressive than those of Blige (‘My Life II’ has yet to top 700K copies in US sales). Of course, if she plans to hop on the ‘Idol’ stage with a squad of Rick Ross‘ goons then that plan will back fire because conservative middle American has no tolerance for that nonsense.

    • What’s Shade?

      8 more months?! *slits wrists*

    • Tracy

I’m hoping that the video is for one of the remixes….

    • latifa

at least we have answers now… seemed odd they dropped triumphant then things went quiet

    • MyCooL

I’m happy she put a lil something out for us fans. Let her take all the time she needs to craft a masterpiece. I have a feeling the “big performance” has something to do with Obama.

    • KOREY

      well that’s disappointing!!
all this hype for triumphant as the LEAD single and even YOU trent confirmed from that call you were on that this was the LEAD single. now it’s a ‘buzz’ single.

    • http://www.RonaldMatters.com RONALDMATTERS.COM

ONE performance is a “Massive TV Promo?”

      Aw ok …

    • ugh

Well at least mary sold that much. I think her album sells are good. Alot of great artists like her cant even sell that.
Plus I know shes not done till after 3 more singles.
But I jus knew I was gettinv mariah album this yr lol.(” Silly of me. Devoted so much time ” :)

    • theman

She may be performing for mtv. The thing is she didn’t ever give a concrete date on when the album was dropping. This is an advanced single. This is something simply for her fans. Furthermore, this isn’t regurgitated pop. Why would u expect an urban song that didn’t go for adds yet to be instant on the charts… The other artists singles fly up the charts because they have an album out, and hit singles prior to that. You should know that seeing as though u are the main one saying that she’s an airplay artist. She’s intelligent, she’s not gonna bring Rick Ross and company on that show to perform that song.

    • theman

Also, Mary didn’t ever say that “STLM” was her official single, that was more of a buzz/diddy kinda single.

    • http://mooriah.com mooriah

dead. a buzz single. what artist needs a buzz single in 2012?
what artist needs american idol to sell records? one that isn’t as successful as they used to be. and that’s a fact. lambs as soon you come to terms with this, the better you will feel.

triumphant was a massive failure. lyrically, musically, vocally it sucked in every area.

mariah doesn’t have it anymore and this album will flop. plain and simple.

      • Boybfly

She is a legend pure and simple. No other artist in history has written and produced as many hits as she has. Mc has always made the music she and her fans love no matter how commercially successful or unsuccessful it is. It’s the message and the lyrics that are important and inspire. Vocally, she is still amazing! And her music just as positive and uplifting as her first single! That’s what it’s about. NOT sales, but impacting people’s lives…

    • TuthTeller

I knew once Try-um-u-cunt was going to flop when I heard it. It’s a wrap for Mariah. A ‘buzz’ single is another word for FLOP!

    • TuthTeller

The fact that she even pushed this album back so far is an indication that the material on it sucked (we can tell by Triumphant). Mariah has no buzz and she her team realized they have to go back and re-craft the album due to its bad reception of the first single, becuase probably every song on the album sound like Triumphant. I know how this business works

    • elijahh aiden

    • theman

One single does not defy an entire album. Are you all that silly that you would think that her entire album would sound like this one single??? That’s a hater for u… This song is leaps and bounds better than all of the crap out now… If you’re album doesn’t come out soon enough, you just wanna give the fans something to hold them over. The haters are always looking for something to hate on…….

    • kayla

Even if Mariah’s career is dead which it is not. She has been in the industry over 20 something years and has sold over millions of albums and the first female to even go up against the likes of the Beatles and Elvis. She has left an indelible iimprint in music history, period. She didn’t have her daddy or her rapper boyfriend to keep her name hot in the streets. It was her sheer talent and perseverance that kept this woman going, despite the odds against her. I will always love Mariah. She is an amazingly talented singer and not many can touch her vocal, period. Her music has substance and I’m sure that she has helped countless people get through hard times. Mariah is no doubt a legend. Nobody was calling Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston legends while they were alive it was when they were dead that everyone wants to call them legends. True legends never get their shine until its too late. Mariah has worked hard. She is the embodiment of triumph.

    • Frank

Triumphant should not have been released first point blank period! Its not the 1990s anymore and Mariah hasn’t exploded since emancipation of mimi which was 7 years ago and in industry time that’s like a century .. Everything has to be handled with care! She’s not the vocalist she once was and shes never been show stopping performer in terms of dancing and movement so the music just has to be on point and triumphant was not it.. A first single of course doesn’t dictate how the album will do but I mean its never a good thing. Even beyonces shitty run the world single peaked at number 5 on itunes so that really tells you ppl aren’t checking for this song. She NEEDS american idol so I’m not surprised they’re waiting till american idol is airing to release the album so if used correctly maybe we can just move on to a new single have her perform and ppl love it and we can just forget triumphant ever happened ..

    • wayo

I think they better push that date up…Mary J Blige had the worst year of her career with post-poned- pre-released singles…bad marketing….

    • Kayla

Beyonce was number 5 on itunes so what? Where did Run the World land on the charts? Its just itunes. Artist land on itunes at number 1 for one week and then they are longing number one on itunes the next week.

    • Kayla

In addition, she may not be the same vocalist that she was at the age of 20 which was over 2 decades ago. She is still in a class by herself. She can still blow! I don’t need her to dance. I need a singer to know how to SING. These little kids today that don’t know nothing about music always want to call somebody irrevelant if they aren’t popping right now. That’s not what makes a person legendary. It is the complete body of work. If there is a singer’s career to emulate it is definitely Mariah Carey. And when was Michael Jackson’s last hit? Exactly. We are still jamming off of old Michael so what are you saying?

    • Frank

@kayla what am I sayin? REALITY .. When was michaels last release prior to 2009? Hmmm 2001 almost a decade .. The reason why I can talk about mariah the way I did is because she’s trying to fit in TODAY! If collabing with rick ross and meek mill who aren’t amazing legendary rappers but just hot right now isnt trying to fit in than I dnt kno what is ..Believe me I kno what mariah USED to be capable of and I loved her for it but that mariah is long gone so I’m speaking on the mariah carey of today .. Of course she can still sing but its pitchy and sometimes even hard to listen too and that’s not gna sell a song especially a song that’s flopping the way it is .. You say where did beyonces run the world end up on the charts .. I think it peaked at 23 and I would love to see where this single peaks or if it even charts at all .. AND did I say mariah has to dance? I was making a point that when a song is doing bad it can sometimes be saved with a hot performance and mariah can’t give us that all she has is her voice that she’s losing .. Srry whether it was michael or whitney releasing wack music today I would still call them on it that doesn’t discount what they’ve done that’s being REAL! I’m not here for that its okay to be mediocre cuz they can sit on their legacy .. NO! If your great BE GREAT! That’s what I’m saying ..

    • Kayla

Once again you don’t know what you are talking about. Mariah has been collabing since she came out. This is nothing new. Check the history books. She has collaborated with almost every rapper known to the rap game. Beyonce has no excuse to peak at no 23. Which we all know that song did not peak at no. 23. Her highness should’ve knocked us dead with 4, coming of the heels of the successful, I Am Sasha Fierce. Really? Before there was a Beyonce there was a Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Janet etc. and don’t you forget it. You folks kill me acting like Beyonce is some spring chicken, isn’t she thirty years old. Everyone gets older even Beyonce. No one is freaking immortal. And she is GREAT! Check the reciepts. The most successful female artist and that’s not by coincidence it is for a reason. True ICON.

    • Frank

*sighs* u just can’t argue with a stan .. I’m no beyonce stan so I’m not about to go back and forth with u about her .. Yes 4 didn’t do as good as her other albums but mariah has had a FEW flop eras even before emancipation so please dnt even go there .. You seem to have a problem reading so let me try one more time .. MARIAH CAREY HAS ACHIEVED AND DONE A LOT .. U still with me? .. BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN SHE CAN RELEASE WACK MUSIC AND NO ONES GONA CALL HER ON IT! Triumphant is WACK and clearly I’m not the only one who thinks that seeing as it has already completely fallen off itunes in like a week. Her last album was WACK! The album before it was WACK! So legend or not if your putting out shitty music its not gna sell whether your mariah carey or NOT .. Her last album hasn’t even gone platinum! Honey numbers don’t lie ppl aren’t feeling the trying to stay eternally 12 mariah..Mariah Carey is a Legend u seem to think I’m saying different but legends can mess up too and she’s been messing up the past 3 eras now .. .. I’m not a delusional stan so I’m not about to be like well u sold a lot of records so you can go fart on microphone and release it since your mariah .. Hell fuckin no! If the music is shit I’m gna call you on it .. Yes Mariah is older so how about she makes music like she is .. As trent said she seems to be going BACKWARDS .. Vision of Love will be played at my wedding that’s how classic it is and she goes from that to songs like touch my body and obessesd?! .. Honey take your head out of the sand aka mariahs ass .. Its OKAY to be objective about ur favorite artists.. No one will take your stan card away ..Yes mariah is an icon .. But as of today she’s a struggling icon

    • MusicFan

@frank I cosign 200 percent! I love me some mimi but she’s not been up to par the last few times shes been out and its getting frustrating…

    • kayla

First off Mr. Frank, I am nobody’s stan, let’s get that straight! I am fan and a lover of music, especially R&B. My head is up no one’s ass sweetie so if you want to argue with someone than do it maturely. No musician’s career is flopless sweetie. If that’s the case then every artist would be over. Just like you can call out artist for bringing out crappy music then you get called out on also. That’s what I am calling you out on. No one will ever have a career that has no ups and downs, that’s just not realistic. I am college educated and I think for myself, and I’m sure that you can tell by my grammar that I have no deficiencies in my reading abilities. Doesn’t Beyonce and her forty two year old husband walk around talking about “forever young” all time, and he is still rapping. I don’t like everything that Mariah puts out; however, her last three albums were not flops. Memoirs was her only album to go gold out of her entire catalog. That’s not a bad track record. Most artist don’t even have Mariah’s longetivity. I don’t care if you are a stan or not, no one will like everything that their favorite artist puts out. I can name SEVERAL of Mariah’s songs that I don’t like. You can’t compare Mariah to Beyonce’s or Adele’s sales. They are on two different playing fields. Mariah’s career spans over two decades. Compare Mariah to her contemporaries and compare Beyonce and Adele’s to theirs. Mariah is one of my favorite artist, amongst several others. Janet Jackson and Toni Braxton aren’t doing so great today but I won’t consider them flops because of what they have brought to music history. I don’t have time for this. I’m about to listen to Triumphant (Pulse Club Remix)! Peace

@kayla and again u missed the point completely lmao .. I’m not talking about sales or flops as an artist because obv no one can stay on top forever! I’m talking about music quality .. Smh .. I can’t anymore have fun listening to triumphant and while ur at buy a couple more she could use it ..

    • me

HA if this was any other artist trent bias ass would be going in throwing all kinds of shade. like Beyonce your credit is not to be taken seriously (for lack of being objective and fair when writing about all artist).
