Did you know that today (August 26th) is the 15th anniversary of Mariah Carey’s record-breaking single ‘Honey’?
‘Honey’ was released on August 26th 1997 as the lead single from Carey’s iconic ‘Butterfly’ album. The song debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 as the diva’s 3rd song to achieve that feat and earned her the title of being the only artist in the history of the chart to land three #1 debuts.
Additionally, ‘Honey’ was Carey’s 12th #1 song on the Hot 100 and tied her with The Supremes as the female artists with the most chat-topping singles. Since that time, Carey has notched an additional 6 #1 songs on the Hot 100, increasing her total to 18 and ranking in 2nd place behind only The Beatles as the act with the most pole position singles.
