The music industry is packed with several artists who exaggerate about their abilities, particularly regarding the rare art of songwriting. One individual who has long been accused of simply buying her way into the the writing credits of her songs is Beyonce, and Ne-Yo addressed those claims on ‘The Breakfast Club’.
Discussing their monster hit song ‘Irreplaceable’ and the fact that Beyonce often takes credit for writing the song, Ne-Yo made it clear that she only wrote the background harmonies. However, he did insist that Beyonce’s work was a key aspect of the songwriting process because she helped to make the song even better than its original composition.
Also among the list of topics discussed by Ne-Yo were the direction of his upcoming ‘R.E.D.’ album and his role as an executive at Motown Records. Additionally, adding to his previous statements on ‘The Angie Martinez Show’, he shut down claims that he has abandoned his R&B roots in favour of Pop music.

I wonder how many other songs on which Beyonce’s name appears so prominently in the credits were written by other people and she simply tacked on a few harmonies so that she could land a slot on the bill? Everybody wants to be a writer but nobody wants to do the work.
