New Song: Ciara – ‘Livin’ It Up’

While we wait for Ciara to release her new single, ‘Sorry’, the star has issued another song instead. ‘Livin’ it Up’ is featured on a special Cosmopolitan magazine playlist and will also reportedly appear on Ciara’s upcoming ‘One Woman Army’ album.

Earlier today, Ciara shared the single cover of ‘Sorry’ but since that time, no other information about the song has been revealed to her fans or the media. Perhaps, she is simply trying to build anticipation by remaining mysterious. Yes, let’s be nice and assume that.

The sample of used in ‘Livin’ it Up’ is definitely the highlight of the song and it is quite catchy. However, Ciara’s approach to the vocals detracts from the music’s appeal. Honestly, the way she pronounced certain words was actually a bit annoying and she sounded as though she was trying far too hard.

Still, it’s great to hear Ciara pushing her voice without the assistance of auto-tune. Now, all we need is for her to work on expanding her range and her tone so that she won’t sound like a weaker version of D. Woods from Danity Kane.

  Honestly…this song is pretty dope. Yes..it’s generic pop, but it’s catchy, and radio friendly. Good for her. Also, this is way better than Mariah’s new one…just saying.

  This is much better than the song I heard from her earlier on your site. It has a nice hook that would make people stop and listen however the way she pronounced some of the words grates a bit on the nerves. Seriously can she not sing with her own accent or is it that she’s trying to emphasis too much on certain words either way it did not win musical points to me.

  Great B-side of album filler but Sweat and Overdose were better. If she’s doing album promotion this will go down well to make up a set but not for a first single, or second. Maybe 4th!

  Ciara doesn’t make horrible music, it’s just that this is a generation of “who is the person that is the artist of the songs”. People are buying into personalties equally or moreso then talent or production effort. If audiences don’t know about you or like what they know they don’t care about you.
  
  Ciara was the urban cheerleader, not the diva, or boss chick, or hood girl, but someone relatable and fun. Then she became the socialite attempted pop princess rejecting crunk n b and even former industry friends like Jazze Pha and Lloyd were saying she changed or was Hollywood.
