In the mood for some real vocal talent without the assistance of auto-tune or a Power Rangers voice changer? If that’s the case then then you will enjoy Tamia’s new song, ‘Still’, which is actually an updated Country version of one of her previously recorded tracks.
During Tamia’s interview with The Lava Lizard, she revealed how this revamped version of ‘Still’ was developed with the assistance of songwriter Claude Kelly. Read an excerpt from our extensive chat with the songbird below:
“On this [new 'Beautiful Surprise' album] I did a Country remake called ‘Is it Over Yet’ and I actually recorded that with a producer named Luke Laird, who worked with Carrie Underwood. We went into the studio and we recorded the song live with the band and live by myself. I sang it about four times and we kept the best performance. When we were finished were like, “okay, now what?” So, that’s when we decided to remake ‘Still’.
I really just love trying different things vocally like doing that Country record. However, when you listen to it you may not think it’s a Country song. I’m a Wynonna Judd fan and I love a songs with good lyrics as well as a good melody so I do like trying different things, vocally.”

Tamia’s new album, ‘Beautiful Surprise’, will arrive in stores on August 28th. If you have not heard the preview of the LP there click here and then listen to the full updated version of ‘Still’ below:
‘Still’ couldn’t have gotten any better than this. The original version of the song was beautiful but Tamia brought new life to the music with the Country arrangement. Of course, the lyrics seemed even more meaningful when related to how long Tamia and Grant Hill have been married. Isn’t true love just grand?
