Aaliyah isn’t the only fallen artist who has a posthumous album set for release in 2012. The recently deceased Whitney Houston, who would have celebrated her 49th birthday today (August 9th), will have an updated greatest set in stores in late fall.
Houston’s new greatest hits compilation will be released in late fall. The record follows the late diva’s ‘Whitney: The Greatest Hits’ collection, which was issued in 2000 and has since sold an impressive 2.6 million copies. In fact, that set moved the 836K copies following Houston’s passing on February 11th 2012 as the fourth highest-selling album of the year to date.
Details regarding the title, release date and track list of Houston’s new greatest hits set have yet to be announced.
