Here we go again. After several false starts in the last four years, Timbaland has once again revealed the release date of Missy Elliott’s new single and given her fans what is probably false hope. The only difference between this news and Timbaland’s announcements? He actually named the two songs.
Yes, you read that correctly. On Labour Day weekend in September, Elliott will release two singles, ’9th Inning’ and ‘Triple Threat’. The songs are the lead offerings from the elusive rapper’s long delayed new album, which is still reportedly entitled ‘Block Party’.
Earlier this year, Timbaland told MTV News that both his and Elliott’s new albums would have been released simultaneously in June. Unfortunately, similar to all his previous promises, nothing came to fruition and both records remain Urban legends.
Well excuse me for not being excited by this news. Timbaland and Elliott are notorious for their false starts, and we have been waiting since 2008 for the latter’s ‘Block Party’. Let’s just pretend we never saw this “announcement” and be pleasantly surprised if the songs actually premiere.
