Missy Elliott and Timbaland rocked the web earlier this evening with the debut of new songs, ‘Triple Threat’ and ’9th Inning’ but the shocking moves didn’t end there. The duo visited ‘The Angie Martinez Show’ on Hot 97 to chat about their new projects and addressed the controversial topic of Aaliyah’s first posthumous album.
Last month, Elliott and Timbaland made it clear that would not participate in the development of Aaliyah’s new album, which is being helmed by Drake, but they reiterated their views on ‘Angie Martinez’ today. “We’re talking about unfinished music and we don’t know her reasoning for not putting those records out,” Elliot stated. “Maybe she didn’t feel like they were her best work. We don’t want to tap into that. It’s spiritually something else very touchy unless her parents came in and conducted that.”
So, what do Elliott and Timbaland think of Drake’s borderline obsession with Aaliyah and his tattoos in her honor, despite the fact that he never met her? Well, they simply laughed at the idea and Timbaland even refused that the ink was real because of the craziness of the idea.
Expect Elliott to release her new album later this year. As she told her fans on Ustream, she has several surprises in store from the record and she will launch a tour that will journey across Europe as well as Latin America to support the project.
