Nicki Minaj Sets November Date For ‘Roman Reloaded’ Rerelease

Written by TriniTrent | Filed under Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj chats with ‘E! News’.

Nicki Minaj has tried almost everything under the sun to move units of her ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ album but everything has failed. So, instead of resorting to giving away free wigs with copies of the record and kids’ meals at your local KFC, the rapper has announced plans to issue a rerelease the set in November as ‘The Re-Up’.

Speaking to ‘E! News’ prior to her performance with Alicia Keys at the 2012 MTV VMA, Minaj confirmed that ‘The Re-Up’ will be released in November. Additionally, she noted that there will be several new songs included on the set and that the lead single will hit the airwaves as early as next week.

Thus far, the original ‘Roman Reloaded’ album has only sold 647K copies in the US. Only one of the singles from the LP has cracked the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 – ‘Starships’, which peaked at #5. Hey, at least Minaj won an MTV VMA for Best Female Video for the track’s accompanying clip.

Watch Minaj chat with ‘E! News’ about ‘The Re-Up’ below:

Hey her buzzz ia already fading I guess she gotta do it while she got it, and she think she slick releasing it November bitchif nobody ain’t buy it the first time what makes you think they gon buy it now I smell desperation, you’re right Trent #Poor her

    • Adrian

Karma is calling…..if she thinks talented female rappers faded fast
then she is in for a shock when she sees how quickly UNTALENTED ones do. You cant mock your superiors and expect to stay on top. Never works lol

    • Guess What

This plastic infested lesbian slut is a EPIC fail & so is that FLOP album. Onika is on the decline & she can’t deal with it after calling all of the other female rappers washed up & old time machine bitches. Nobody gives a shit about Onika & her publicity stunts (which have all failed), her lame ass gimmicks (which ppl are very tired of). She should just continue to let Baby buy her records like he’s been doing & cut the bullshit.

Nobody liked her album the first go round & they won’t like it this time either. Missy is on her way back on the scene. AB is making some serious noise in the industry & if Kim finally gets herself together it will be on & popping with real female hip hop. Karma is kicking Onika’s fake injected ass hard because she is a real nasty snake ass bitch behind the scenes

    • Nelz91

Wow a whole bunch of haters huh . . . You guys act like her album did horrible SMH I’ll pat you on the back Onika keep doing your thing!

    • Aaliyah

But if people didn’t buy it the first time, why would they buy it this time?

This is a serious-ass question I’m asking to with a straight face!

    • http://www.derekevan.com Derek Evan

Why is this article attempting to give the impression that the “Pink Friday- Roman Reloaded” album is basically a failure which has been selling poorly? According to Billboard Magazine the album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 100 in the USA back in April of this year, and sold over 253,000 in its first week! That ain’t an easy thing to do, especially not for a female rapper. In my most recent edition of Billboard I see that its STILL on the Billboard 200, although obviously not at #1 anymore since it is 4 months later. And what’s with comments about it “only selling 647,000 copies” so far? 647K is not peanuts and in fact anything over 500K is considered a GOLD record. Furthermore, I just read somewhere that it was actually just certified Platinum would actually means over a million were sold. Just because the album may be starting to run out of steam 4 months after its release doesn’t mean that the album performed poorly, which is what this article seems to imply. Just wanted to clarify the fact for everyone reading this! PS: I’m not a huge Nicki Minaj fan, and I think her level of true talent can certainly be questioned. I’m just setting the record straight (no pun intended) about how well her album has perfomed on the charts.

    • http://www.derekevan.com Derek Evan

Oh, one more thing in addition to what I said previously. The article states that only one single so far has cracked on the Top 10 on the Billboad Hot 100. Just to clarify, “Pound The Alarm” was only recently released as a pop/dance single, and in last week’s edition of Billboard it was listed as one of the fastest rising songs in the Hot 100. Radio stations only recently started playing it, so it could go to #1 for all we know. Also, “Beez In the Trap” was primarily released as a Hip Hop single and was specifically marketed towards Hip Hop radio stations and hip hop listeners, so the fact that it didn’t do very well on the Hot 100 (pop charts) is not all that surprising. The upcoming single “I Am Your Leader” is also primarily a Hip Hop single, and will not be marketed toward Top 40 radio and mainstream listening audiences. I personaly think both “Starships” and “Pound the Alarm” are be 2 of the best dance songs and party favorites of 2012!

    • theman

Didn’t she just release two new singles? How can she be releasing another one already?…..

    • David

so much dick riders, nicki’s cock must be on fire. I for one will buy the Re-Up, just like her countless Barbz. These comments scream “ULTIMATE HATERS”. keep hating, nicki’s getting paid !!!

    • KeepItReal

      @David

You “Barbz” say the same shit. Ain’t nobody hatin’, Lol.

    • ML

I don’t get why people associate her re-releasing the album as fading. That wasn’t the case for:
      Beyonce
      Usher
      Lady Gaga
      Taylor Swift
      Rihanna
      Justin Timberlake
      Jessica Simpson
      Mariah Carey
      50 cent
      Jennifer Lopez
      Katy perry etc.
Nicki clearly had an agenda. She wanted to do half pop and half hip hop. While it was a great concept, it was messy how they set it up. Never ever should have done a song like Stupid hoe…it’s like bragging about winning. It’s only fun when people are trying to win but when they do and still do that it makes them look boastful. Anyways, her 15.5m+ salary over the last year doesn’t seem to be bothered. She earned a huge pop hit with Starships and a decent urban hit with Beez. The chris brown song flopped, though. Her album selling 640k+ still has her as the #1 selling album by a rapper this year (surpassing Drake) and is ranked top 10 for the year. Unless some massive albums come out selling over 600k this year she is securing her spot in the top 10 year end charts. It’s unfortunate because albums really have taking a nosedive. But it is comical to see bloggers pull the wool over innocent people’s eyes. I know that many wish she would fade and go away but she isn’t…this is like Britney, Rihanna, Justin bieber (who I don’t use), T swift all over again. I guess it will take about 5/6 albums for people realize they are here for longevity.

    • ML

      Aaliyah:
See the list of albums that have been re-released. There are people that don’t buy an album because of one single…they need more to be sold on the idea of buying, there are people that will buy the first week that love her so much that they will support her again (if there is new material) then there are people that get happy with buying items during the holidays. Smart technique to get this re-release during the busiest sales week of the year.

    • ML

      Keepitreal:
But the haters and negative people say the same thing. How could ppl be mad when they do the same thing but in reverse. SMH

    • Aaliyah

      ML:

Thank you sooo much for explaining, Love!

      I really didn’t understand.

      :-)

    • MmmHmm

HER STRUGGLE IS MAD REAL! SHES TRYING TO GET PFRR TO SELL 1MILLION COPIES OR MORE! MISSY IS SET TO RELEASE SINGLES NEXT WEEK TOO, ONIKA REALLY CANT HANDEL THE COMPETITION! SO SAD! SHE NEEDS TO MOVE PAST PFRR & REGISTER TO VOTE!

I WAS EXPECTING A FUNNY ASS GIF FOR THIS POST :(

    • JustMe_Andria

I can’t take another Pink Friday album. Nicki needs to switch it up.

    • What’s Shade?

There are sooo many idiots in the comment section of this post. Wow. PF:RR is the highest selling hip hop album of 2012. If her album is considered a flop, and its #1… think about it. Also, she isn’t the first, and she wont be the last to re-release an album. Get real.

    • Unbothered

Why is this so hard to comprehend? Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded IS a flop. Here’s why: first week sales were half of Pink Friday’s first week sales. Pink Friday SOLD almost 2 million, Roman Reloaded hasn’t even crossed 700k. (Gold and platinum certifications are based on shipments, not sales.) So far, Starships is the only real hit she’s released this round. Common sense would consider anyone whose 2nd album is literally HALF as successful as their first album a flop. She knows what she’s doing. Re-releasing it during the holiday season might actually push sales over a million. Maybe.

      • http://www.derekevan.com Derek Evan

Ha! For all of you who still want to consider “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded to be a flop, just thought I’d let you know that it not only debuted at #1 back in April, but it rebounded again last week and is now back at #27 on the Billboard 200. It’s still basically the 27th best selling album in the US so there’s no way I could consider it a “flop”. I actually never DJ a party or event without having that CD in my utility belt or without arm’s length. Even if I’m playing at a 1950′s sock hop, I have “Roman ReLoaded” on stand-by in case we need to get the dance floor moving!

    • BubblePopElectric

How can you logically say that the #1 Selling Hip Hop Album of the Year is a Flop? The fact that PFRR hasn’t done PF numbers is an alarming indication of the current state of the industry where Albums are NOT selling for much of anyone, anymore [see also: Whitney Houston's catalogue outselling everyone else in 2012]. In fact, if we’ve learned anything from the past 9 months… It’s that unless you’ve sold 1,000,000 units during the first week of your last release like Lil Wayne or Taylor Swift has, or if you happen to be Adele or if you plan on releasing an album during the 4th Quarter of the year or at a ridiculously reduced price… The new standard of industry success is selling over 100K during one’s first week of release & going Gold [Note: PFRR sold over 270K In April & is closing in on the 700,000 mark as I type this].

Additionally, the ONLY artist to release an album within the last 3 years that’s sold better than their previous album is Adele’s “21″. Thus, if the criteria that you all seem to be using to describe a flop album is one that has not exceeded the numbers of its predecessor… Then, EVERY Major ARTIST’S Most Current Releases ARE FLOPS Meaning:

PFRR is only a FLOP if…

      4 is a Flop.
      TTT is a Flop.
      Fortune is a Flop.
      Teenage Dream is a Flop.
      Believe is a Flop.
Born This Way is a Flop.
      MBDTF is a Flop &
Everyone Else Who Is Not Adele Is A Flop, As Well (Excluding All Debut Albums, Of Course).

    • ML

It’s funny because Adele and Katy are the only artist surpassing their previous efforts. Rihanna, Beyonce, Britney, Justin Bieber, Gaga have sold more than half less than their previous efforts. PF:RR is not a flop. JLO’s album is a flop. If it can’t even get certification then it is a flop. NIcki’s album is a disappointment…that is more accurate because she isn’t selling the way she did in 2010 (Nov sales vs April sales minus new it person hype). Even during her disappointing period she is still ranked top 10 annually album and single wise. I see Nicki is pulling a Beyonce by releasing her new song the same week as Missy. Well, its a business.
I don’t think Nicki is scared of competition like some hater.s are claiming. It will take so much for the past rappers and new rapper to reach Nicki’s level that all it is going to do is drive her to step up her game and do more urban songs to keep her foot on the competition. I don’t think she’s crying or shaking. Anyways, ready for new Nicki and Missy.

    • Girrrl

I don’t get it. There are already 2 versions of this album out. Plus it makes no sense that the album is certified platinum even though it has only sold 600k thus far. Love it or hate it, this album is not doing well given all the hype, videos, singles, performances, etc surrounding it. There should not be 400 thousand of those albums sitting on shelves after all that.

      • http://www.derekevan.com Derek Evan

Uh… why is everyone saying there are already 2 versions of this album out in stores? “Pink Friday- Roman Reloaded” is a SEQUEL to the “Pink Friday” album. It’s basically a continuation and NOT a reissue of “Pink Friday”. In fact it’s actually not related in any way to the original except for the title. All of the songs are different. I must say though that it’s confusing having “Pink Friday” included in the 2nd album title because it tends to give the impression that the 2nd album is a re-worked version of the first album, which is not the case.

    • http://vanity-unfair.tumblr.com/ ThatBoyLuke

Get over it the album is a flop… It’s sold 640k compared to “PF” which sold like 1.7m or something and she’s had one hit.
And to all the people saying how does this re release mean she’s fading when others have done it, all the people listed Katy Perry, Usher etc re released off the back of a SUCCESSFUL album not a flop one and people saying even Rihanna’s album sold less, it’s sold like 3m so…

    • Girrrl

There is a regular version of Reloaded AND a deluxe version of Reloaded. That’s two albums of the same project. I guess third time is supposed to be the charm huh?

    • BubblePopElectric

Industry Knowledge: Those 400,000 copies of PFRR on shelves represent the copies that have already been purchased by retailers awaiting to be resold to the buying public. So, either way, Nicki has still sold 1,000,000 copies of the album in the U.S. And it is STILL the #1 Hip Hop album of the year and yes, you will deal!
