Usher & Shakira Replace Christina Aguilera & Cee Lo On ‘The Voice’

‘The Voice’ is known for it’s famous coaches and not for generating chart-topping artists so it is no surprise that the producers of the show are keen to keep the panel brimming with star power. Indeed, now that Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green have announced a temporary leave from the show, Usher and Shakira have been tapped as their replacements.

Usher and Shakira will assume coaching duties for the fourth season of ‘The Voice’, which will launch in early 2013. The decision was made after Aguilera announced the specifics of her ‘Lotus’ album campaign. “Since NBC and ‘The Voice’ have decided to tape back-to-back seasons, requiring a full-year commitment, it is important for me to take season four off, allowing me to support my music that my fans have been waiting for with the release of my new album ‘Lotus’ on November 13th,” claimed the diva.

Cee Lo is also readying new music for his fans later this year. The colourful singer will issue his ‘Cee Lo’s Magic Moment’ Holiday album on October 30th but insisted that he will return to ‘The Voice’ the the series’ fifth season when he has the time to properly focus on the show. Meanwhile, nobody has expressed concern that ‘The Voice’ has yet to put forward a commercially successful contestant.

    Thoughts?

and neither has the X Factor.

NBC thinks we don’t see this desparity in competing with FOX? Running the show alongside both American Idol and The X Factor. No wonder Christina and Ceelo are tired.

YES! Shows Xtina is committed to her new album and she will be back to the Voice (with all the viewers who temporarily leave with her) lol

I’m glad that 1st coaches are leaving, to refresh the show, and to do their own careers, and then they’ll back again all together!

I prefered instead Usher Justin Timberlake to be on The Voice, and Shakira is good choice but I could see more instead her P!nk/Kelly Clarkson/Gwen Stefani/Alicia Keys on the show!

It’ll be interesting to see who’ll replace Blake & Adam… Faith Hill would be great choice instead of Blake… and maybe Lenny Kravitz instead Adam!

When the show first came out I found it refreshing, different and very funny. Now, on season 3, I don’t find the excitement at all, I get bored very easily and most contestants aren’t even worthy to be there.

I agree they still need to have a successful winner but as someone stated before, X Factor is also in debt.
I guess that’s why American Idol is the most watched show out of the 3; I mean, Kelly C, Carrie U, Adam L et al. All of them have been incredibly successful.

    • Ugh

@ x, what do you mean neither has X Factor? the show only had one season and one winner :?

I’m gonna miss Ce Loo. I don’t care if xtina doesn’t come back.
