Kelly Rowland is ready to give her music career another shot since her ‘Everybody Dance Now’ reality show in Australia was cancelled after only four episodes. Just moments ago, the Destiny’s Child ad lib singer announced the title of her new album, thus confirming her plans to officially renter the music scene.
Further exploiting the concept of female empowerment, Rowland has named her new album ‘Year of the Woman’. The record is preceded by the lead single, ‘Ice (Ft. Lil Wayne)’, which has thus far peaked at #100 on the Billboard hot 100 and #26 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
“I’m so excited to reveal the title of my fourth solo studio album,” Rowland exclaimed in a statement to her fans. “For weeks I have been using the hashtag #YOTW which stands for my next album which is titled ‘Year Of the Woman’. This album is one of my greatest pieces of work and I cannot wait to share it with you guys!”
Rowland’s previous effort, ‘Here I Am’, sold less than 270K copies in the US. The only song from the set that managed to enter the Hot 100 was ‘Motivation’, and it peaked at #17, despite climbing to #1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Listen to Rowland’s ‘Ice’ below and determine if it reflects the theme of ‘Year of the Woman’:
