After scoring a high debut on the Billboard Hot 100 last week, Adele’s ‘Skyfall’ has literally fallen out of the top 10, thus making room for a pair of other Pop stars to race toward the top spot. Armed with auto-tune and repetitive lyrics, Ke$ha and Rihanna are gearing up for war.
Adele’s ‘Skyfall’ dipped from #8 to #13 on the Hot 100 this week. The song earned the singer her first top 10 debut on the chart last week but despite selling another 199K downloads for a new total of 460K in just 13 days, failed to maintain the momentum needed to secure a longer stay in the top 10.
Ke$ha’s ‘Die Young’, on the other hand, has risen to a new Hot 100 peak. Vaulting up the chart, thanks primarily to online streaming (436K plays in the last week alone) and 133K digital sales, the song has leapfrogged from #14 to #8 as the wild child’s 8th top 10 hit in less than 3 years.
Finally, Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’ is also nearing the top 10 of the Hot 100. The track rebounded from #18 to #11 and held off Ne-Yo’s ‘Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself)’, which also jumped from #17 to #12.
