Ne-Yo previously stated that his upcoming ‘R.E.D.’ album (debut November 6th) will appeal to both R&B and Pop fans. Well, he clearly prefers the latter group because he has released yet another new song called ‘Forever Now’ that clearly targets the Dance-driven club scene.
Featuring cliche synths and a simple singalong melody that even the drunkest partygoer can hum, ‘Forever Now’ is far from Ne-Yo’s best work. Yet, don’t rely on my opinion. Listen to the song with your own ears below:
There is nothing wrong with Dance-styled music but cliche productions like ‘Forever Now’ fail to drive Pop music forward. What’s most disappointing about this song is that it was crafted by Ne-Yo, who is a very talented songwriter. He is clearly chasing a hit and he won’t get one with my iTunes credit.
