Her technique is horrible true, but every singer misses notes, including the one in the GIF. Youtube any number of them. PS your obsession with Mariah is kinda out there don’t you think? I mean you work her into every conversation, lol.

Btw, and I’m not a Trent stan by any means, but the issue isn’t a bad note. It’s the fact that anytime she belts, it sounds like her vocal chords are ripping. Belting should not sound like that regardless of a husky tone.

Christina…no. It was not only flat, but the total loss of volume, and that dead from a mile run…like…no Christina. She should be leaving her prime right now, not experience not sounding like the musical embodiment of retirement and middle age.
That gruff sound she prefers is not natural to her. She already had a beautiful voice, but she was just determined to be something she is not. This performance was not bad…until it got to that moment…and yes it is one faulty note…but it was the big moment. It was meant to be the definitive moment of the song and look what happened.
Now to everyone mentioning Mariah (including the subtle hints from Trent), please just stop. Yes Mariah is not where she used to be when she was younger, but that is due to her nodules and age, not because of the way she sings. Christina’s hazardous way of singing ends up with things like this. She has always been like this even in her younger days at the start of her career. It is only showing more because her voice has experienced massive wear and tear. Christina won’t learn restraint (know your limits), and she won’t learn how to sing properly (breath support, resonance, intonation), so moments like this will happen more and more. Mariah may have lost a lot of her ease, but that is only in her chest, and she can still hit E5′s with great ease. Her top and her bottom are very much in tact. And even if it is not, she knows how to work around that. Christina does not, she keeps going for the same thing, expecting different results.
And Trent, it might just be time to stop talking about Christina, cause even though this is true what you are saying, to have as many post about her, and not ever not shading her…it is one thing to be critical (saying she fucked up her voice, and pointing out the glaring flaws), it’s another to be as patronizing in the way you choose to speak. I love shade as much as the next person but this is a bit much.

Say what you want about Mariah, but she has NEVER done anything as badly as that horrible… wannabe run at 2:30.

She has a great voice, ever since she had Max, her voice has gotten darker and mature. Now, it’s time for her to use better technique. If she keeps this up, she’s gonna end up like Adele. Vocal hemmorage.
