Most of Nicki Minaj’s fans are probably under the age of 18 years so it is no surprise that she has a song on her ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up’ to which they can connect. However, the new track, entitled ‘High School’, is far from her the other childish nonsense she released in the last few months.
Featuring Lil Wayne, ‘High School’ takes us back to the days of Minaj’s early career when she was still a mixtape artist with a point to prove with her music. Yes, similar to most of the other new tunes on ‘The Te-Up’ (due on November 19th), this track is driven by lyrics rather than Dance music synths.

Along with ‘Freedom’, ‘High School’ is the type of song that Minaj should have included on ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ instead of ‘Starships’ and ‘Stupid Hoe’. It reminds us of just how good she can be when she is focused on being a rapper instead of an over the top, auto-tuned Pop star. Anything less than this level of this quality should be thrown away.
