Michael Jackson has died but his voice lives on through the many artists that he inspired. One such act is The Weeknd, whose vocal stylings and tone are hauntingly similar to the King of Pop. An example of those parallels is readily available on a new song called ‘Twenty Eight’.
On November 13th, The Weeknd will release his debut album, ‘Trilogy’. ‘Twenty Eight’ is one of the few new songs included on the record, which primarily comprises tracks from the elusive singer’s trio of mixtapes, ‘House of Balloons’,‘Thursday’ and ‘Echoes of Silence’.

‘Twenty Eight’ is a great record and a very impressive vocal performance from The Weeknd, who finally shows off other areas of his range instead of just his upper register. However, if he wants to distinguish himself as an artist then he needs to branch out and experiment with other production styles. Indeed, the dark, emotion wails of a tormented soul will only be interesting for so long.
