Thanks to the massive success of her ’21′ album, Adele ruled the 2011 Billboard Year-End charts and now the omnipresent set has earned her a spot at the top once again. Easily outselling her competition, the recluse diva has bested Rihanna, Justin Bieber and even Taylor Swift as 2012′s top act.
Adele has been named as the Top Artist of the last charting year extending from the week of December 3rd 2011 through November 24th 2012. The diamond-certified ’21′ has also been crowned as the year’s best-seller and the Top Album of the Billboard 200.
Since January 1st 2012, ’21′ has sold over 4.26 million copies in the US. The record is also the most recently released album to achieve diamond status by the RIAA – its predecessor was Usher’s ‘Confessions’ album of 2004 – and it officially crossed the 10-million sales mark during the week of November 27th 2012. How long did it take to accomplish the latter feat? Just 92 weeks, during which time it never left the Billboard 200!
