Emeli Sande caps off 2012 with a performance on ‘Top of the Pops’.

Remember when Emeli Sande was just a faceless songwriter for Leona Lewis? Now, she has outsold her peer and even Adele, with whom she shares a first name, as the most successful UK artist of 2012 so it was quite fitting to see her cap off the year with a live performance on the Top of the Pops Christmas special.

Draped in golden Christmas decorations to match the many accolades that probably line the halls of her home, Sande rocked the Top of the Pops show with a live rendition of her hit single “Next to Me”. Where are the many people who once made Lewis the dominant UK act? “You will find them next to me” – Sande.
