Did you know that Adele’s ’21′ is the first album to be named as the top-selling set for two consecutive years since 1984?

Prior to ’21′, the last album to top the Billboard Year-End charts and outsell its competition was Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ in both 1983 as well as 1984. Indeed, although there have been several major releases since that time, no other album has been named as a year’s best-seller for two consecutive years.

’21′ sold over 5.8 million copies in the US from December 4th 2010 to November 26 2011. During the December 3rd 2011 through November 24th 2012 period, on the other hand, it sold over 4.4 million. To date, the record has sold north of 10.2 million units in the US.
