The legendary icon of stage, music and film, who is best known for her starring roles in ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘The Sound of Music’, rose to popularity as one of the most talented vocalists of the 20th century. However, after dealing with complications from a routine throat surgery, she lost her famous singing voice.
Andrews made it clear that the issue had nothing to do with cancer or nodules, and that she was promised that her singing voice would have returned within the six weeks following the procedure. Unfortunately, her instrument was destroyed and even her speaking voice was altered. The situations is widely regarded as one of the greatest tragedies in the history of music.
