Did you know that Cyndi Lauper won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1985?
Following the monster success of her 6x platinum She’s So Unusual album, Lauper took home Grammy gold in 1985 when she earned the Best New Artist title. However, the inspiration behind Pink, Fergie and Christina Aguilera wasn’t able to win time after time.
In fact, the Best New Artist honor is the only Grammy that Lauper has won to date. That’s right, she has only one win from fourteen nominations, despite also receiving nods for Record of the Year (“Girls Just Want to Have Fun”), Song of the Year (“Time After Time”) and Album of the Year (She’s So Unusual) in 1985.
