Bruno Mars put in the time and effort, and now he is about the reap the rewards. Sales predictions suggest that his new album, ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’, will debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 and sell three times what his ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ did in its opening frame.
‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ has sold over 1.71 million copies since being released in the US in October 2010. However, what many people have since forgotten is that only 55K copies of the LP were purchased during its first week on the Billboard 200 where it peaked at #3.
‘Unorthodox Jukebox’, on the other hand, is on track to sell 140-160K copies during the next seven days and will challenge Taylor Swift’s ‘Red’ album in the race to the Billboard 200 summit. The record is preceded by the single ‘Locked Out of Heaven’, which claimed the top slot on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.
