It appears that the industry-wide sales slump isn’t only affecting R&B acts. Although she has one of the biggest hits of the year under her belt, Ke$ha’s new album, ‘Warrior’, is expected to start slow on the charts next week. In fact, sales predictions indicate that it will sell less than her previous effort.
Barely notching a spot in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, Ke$ha’s ‘Warrior’ is projected to sell 80-85K copies in its opening week. Those figures represent almost a 50% drop from the 152K copies that her ‘Animal’ debut album sold during the first week of January 2010. The latter LP has thus far sold over 1.4 million copies in the US.
The lead single from ‘Warrior’, ‘Die Young’, has thus far peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. However, it has begun to lose steam on the chart and it dipped to #3 this week. Watch its accompanying video below:
