Last week, early sales predictions indicated that Bruno Mars’ new album, ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’, would have entered the US charts with 140-150K copies sold. However, as a result of his massive promotional campaign, the singer has exceeded all expectations with an even more impressive debut.
‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 this week with over 192K copies sold. Although the record was unable to top the 208K units moved by Taylor Swift’s ‘Red’ album, it still sold more then three times the opening sum of Mars’ first effort, ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’, which sold 55K at #3 in its first frame in October 2010.
Meanwhile, Mars did managed to continue his reign on the Billboard Hot 100. His ‘Locked Out of Heaven’ single remained at #1 on the lineup for a second consecutive week with over 222K digital copies sold and 135 million audience impressions logged.
