Beyonce received heavy flak for using a pre-recorded track during her performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” at the inauguration of US President Barack Obama. However, she reminded the world of her vocal ability by singing the song live at a Super Bowl press conference yet followed the shining moment with more untruths.
Using the US national anthem as a means to an end instead of the purpose of celebrating her country, Beyonce belted “The Star Spangled Banner” to the cheers of the press. Of course, she did it while wearing a backless mini-dress, thus providing members of the troops watching online with something about which to dream.
The real show, however, started after Beyonce performed and started answering questions from the press. She quickly admitted to using a backtrack during her inauguration showing but then proceeded to boast about the fact that she “always sings live” as if none of us have ever seen her on tour or miming “Deja Vu” at the 2006 BET Awards, “Run the World (Girls)” at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards and almost every chorus of her Destiny’s Child hits.
