Brandy chats about her past on MTV’s ‘This is How I Made It’.

We all know that Whitney Houston was the main inspiration for Brandy’s career but there were several other pieces to the songstress’ musical puzzle that helped make her into the great artist that she is today. Thankfully, we have shows like MTV’s This is How I Made It to give us insight into her interesting life.

Brandy openly chatted about the influence of her father’s performances in church on her passion to become a singer and develop her craft. Beaming from ear to ear, she also revealed that it was the incredible voice and smile of Houston that propelled her to achieve stardom.

Additionally, Brandy revealed that her renditions of Houston’s “Greatest Love of All” and Mariah Carey’s “Vision of Love” nabbed her a record deal, following her short yet tumultuous stint on Thea. It seemed that regardless of what was happening in her life, nothing could stop her rise to the top.
