To commemorate her 32nd birthday, Alicia Keys has released a revamped version of her latest single, “Brand New Me”, as a new song entitled “Brand New Me (Part 2)”. Boating a fresh arrangement, the reworked record samples Crystal Waters’ “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)”, which was a hit back in 1991.
The original version of “Brand New Me” is featured on Keys’ recent album, Girl on Fire, which was released on November 22nd. She recently performed the tune during her birthday celebration at a not so impressive Los Premios 40 Principles concert in Madrid, Spain.
After you’ve finished watching her perform in Madrid, come right back to listen to “Brand New Me (Part 2)” below:
It’s refreshing to hear Keys do a full revamped version of “Brand New Me”. She could’ve been lazy and added a rapper to the record but she took time out to experiment with her sound. Not to mention, the sampled track fits perfectly with the concept of the record!
Hopefully, Keys’ is looking to release a deluxe version of Girl on Fire that will feature this record on the re-release. It will surely work in her favour, especially since original album has not garnered the blockbuster sales to which she is accustomed.
