You know who that Rihanna news works – when it reigns, it pours (see what I did there?). Shortly after it was revealed that the blunt Bajan will perform at the upcoming 2013 Grammy Awards, it was announced that her latest album, Unapologetic, has been certified gold.
Having shipped north of 500K copies in the US, Unapologetic has achieved gold status, according to the RIAA. However, unlike all of her previous efforts that were awarded certifications without matching shipment figures at retail outlets, Unapologetic has actually exceeded the standard by selling 581K in stores.
Don’t expect Rihanna to lose momentum anytime soon, though. Excited by her success, she took to Twitter to share even more news with her young Navy fans. Two new singles will be promoted from Unapologetic – “Pour it Up”, which has already been serviced to Urban radio, and “Stay”. The latter was also issued as a single in the UK on January 7th.
Similar to “Diamonds”, “Stay” is one of the few songs that Rihanna can easily sing live. Watch her perform the tune on Saturday Night Live below:
