Well, that didn’t last very long. After surging up the US charts last week with his new song, “Suit & Tie”, and nabbing the #4 slot on the Billboard Hot 100, Justin Timberlake has already lost his footing and tumbled out of the top 10 just as quickly.
“Suit & Tie” dipped from #4 to #13 on the Hot 100 this week with a 65% drop in digital sales (315K to 109K). The song, which features rapper Jay-Z, made waves on last week when it vaulted from #84 to #4 on the lineup and became Timberlake’s 20th top 10 hit.
On the bright side, “Suit & Tie” is still gaining airplay, and garnered 61 million audience impressions via radio stations and 536K online streams this week. Timberlake will likely boost the song’s chart showing with the release of its accompanying video in the coming weeks and his performance at the 2013 Grammy Awards on February 10th.
