We have finally done it! After months of research, reading and discussion, we have arrived at our 500th Music Minute article! Yes, you read that correctly, what many people, including me, thought was impossible has been achieved – 500 music-related facts comprising the longest-running feature on The Lava Lizard.
When I launched The Lava Lizard, I knew that I wanted it to be a platform where readers could get accurate information as well as valid interpretations of industry news. However, the focus of the site has never just been fixed on the present or predictions of the future. Instead, it was my goal honor music history and educate fans about this culture that they enjoy.
Of course we live in an age dominated by a new generation of Pop stars, such as Rihanna, Beyonce and Adele, but we must never forget the past. We must celebrate the legacies of those acts who came before today’s chart giants, and develop an understanding of the tapestry of events and accomplishments that laid the foundation industry as we know it. Indeed, such a broad vision will help us to appreciate the magnitude of this thing we call music.
As The Lava Lizard moves forward to the next stage of its evolution, I will be expanding my reach and challenge myself to grow, both as a writer and as a thinker. It is my will to critically analyse this world and share that insight with the readers. Naturally, I will continue to add my humour so that we can keep having fun!
So, thank you for helping me to realise this part of my vision for The Lava Lizard with 500 successful Music Minute pieces. Let’s celebrate with one of my favourite Aretha Franklin performances of “Respect”:
Some of you didn’t think we’d make it this far, huh?
