Today was the big day for Beyonce and her cult of worshippers as the diva headlined the 2013 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Of course, she wasn’t alone as she rocked the most widely televised event on the planet alongside her Destiny’s Child bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
With the exception of a questionable few bars of “Halo”, Beyonce sang most live throughout her Super Bowl set as she flipped through her catalogue of hits. From “Crazy in Love” to “End of Time” and “Baby Boy”, she reminded her fans of exactly how long she has been in the business.
Yet, nothing was as exciting as the reunion of Destiny’s Child for renditions of “Bootylicious” and even “Single Ladies”, during which Rowland actually stole Beyonce’s spotlight! Whether it was as a result of her bangs or her impressive stage presence, which always seems to peak when she is accompanied by other acts, Rowland was definitely the star of the show.
Beyonce will release her highly anticipated new album in the spring. As we await news about the followup to her relatively slow-selling 4 disc, watch her perform at the Super Bowl below:
Naturally, Beyonce’s followers have taken over social media outlets to proclaim her greatness but was this really the best Super Bowl show ever? The answer is no but she delivered a well executed performance. Still, Janet Jackson and Prince’s respective showings remain unmatched.
