If you saw this coming then raise your hand because you deserve a high five. In an expected turn of events, Fantasia has delayed the release date of her new album, The Side Effects of You, citing the lack of a proper promotional schedule as the obvious cause of the change.
The Side Effects of You was initially set to arrive in stores on March 13th but the record’s debut has been postponed to a later, unspecified time. The lead single from the album, “Lose to Win”, has thus far been a slow burner on the airwaves with a lukewarm peak at #12 on Urban/Adult Contemporary radio. It has yet to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
So, is the delay of The Side Effects of You a bad decision? If an artist lacks a hit and hasn’t performed at any major events to spread the word about her music then postponing her album would be the best move. Honestly, Fantasia can’t sell records on the power of her name alone. Maybe Antwaun Cook could secure her an endorsement deal with T-Mobile for extra exposure.
