Love her, hate her or simply tolerate her because she looks good naked, Rihanna is one of the most consistent Pop stars in the world today. Despite releasing 7 albums in as many years, the Bajan has yet to lose steam on the US charts and just went it seemed as though she had finally begun her descent, her Unapologetic LP has put her back on top.
Bolstered by the increasing airplay of her latest single, “Stay”, which garnered 34 million audience impressions (up 44%) at radio during the last week, despite slipping to #7 on the Billboard Hot 100, Rihanna’s Unapologetic has reentered the top 10 of the Billboard 200. The album sold 29K copies for a new grand total of 749K units as it continued to creep toward the 1 million mark.
Elsewhere, Bruno Mars’ Unorthodox Jukebox reclaimed its initial #2 peak on the Billboard 200 with 48K copies sold. In little over 2 months, the album has sold 865K copies in the US alone and the latest offering from the set, “When I Was Your Man”, vaulted to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 as it topped 1 million copies in sales, thus becoming Mars’ 11th such song to achieve that feat in just 3 years.
Remember when I hinted that Emeli Sande was primed to dominate the US? Well, you better get ready because she has already started to make moves on the Billboard 200 with her Our Version of Events album. The set surged from #142 to #64 on the lineup with week and reached a total of 102K copies sold.
