I know what you’re thinking: “Great, Beyonce released a documentary and now everybody is doing the same thing.” Well, in Rihanna’s defence, her Rihanna 777 footage was filmed since mid-November – long before the February 16th premiere of Life is but a Dream – and its May debut was planned to ensure that her Unapologetic album would have legs on the charts.
Rihanna 777 will feature footage of Rihanna during her Unapologetic press tour. Airing on May 6th at 8pm ET via Fox, viewers will get the chance to see the the world’s dominant Pop star journey to seven cities - Mexico City, Toronto, Stockholm, Paris, Berlin, London and New York – over seven days with a plane filled with agitated journalists. I’m not being harsh; the media was really upset by the tour’s lack of organisation.
Expect the sales of Unapologetic to top the million mark following the premiere of Rihanna 777, if it doesn’t pass that point by the end of April. Since November 19th 2012, the album sold 807K copies in the US and even returned to #6 on the Billboard 200 last week.
Now, we wait to see Rihanna smoke, drink, party and do a bit of singing during Rihanna 777. Watch a small preview of the action via Fuse below:
