Now we know the real reason why Janelle Monae performed on a recent episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The singer-songwriter is preparing for her official return to the spotlight with the help of Erykah Badu on a new single, due for release next week.

Monae will issue her new single, “Q.U.E.E.N.”, on April 22nd at 7:54pm ET on via official website. The song serves as the lead offering from her upcoming The Electric Lady album, which is the follow-up to her critically acclaimed The ArchAndroid set, due later this year.
