“Please care about my music!”

The end of Ashanti’s relationship with Nelly was the best thing that could have happened to her career. Channeling the pain of such an emotional upset, the singer-songwriter has expressed her feelings in the new video for her latest BraveHeart single, “Never Should Have”.

BraveHeart will be released on June 11th but Ashanti has yet to secure a hit ahead of the record’s debut. Thankfully, she clearly learned a lesson from her past mistakes – professional and personal – and applied her newfound wisdom to her struggling music career.

Instead of battling aliens or singing less than stellar hooks with her less than stellar voice, Ashanti has found a happy balance between R&B and Pop. At fist listen, the song isn’t very impressive but this accompanying video really brings the lyrics to life. Indeed, it appears that spending time with other actors on Lifetime has inspired Ashanti on several levels.
