Oh, how the tables of turned. There once was a time when Nicki Minaj and her fans mocked certain other female rappers for promoting their music on World Star Hip-Hop without access to larger platforms. Now, without her own career circling the drain, she has found herself in a similar predicament as she released a new video for “Up in Flames”.
In case you never heard the song, “Up in Flames” appears on Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up EP. However, it appears that she couldn’t afford to give the tune proper video treatment after spending what remained of her budget on the clip for “High School (Ft. Lil Wayne)”. It’s a shame, though, because “Up in Flames” is actually a solid lyrical effort.
Ironically, Minaj raps about meeting with major television network executives in “Up in Flames” yet couldn’t even get them to sponsor the song’s accompanying video. Thankfully, her cousin Kiki was gracious enough to loan her a Blackberry and flashlight to film the entire production. Watch all the action unfold below:
