Every Epic Records A&R associated with Ciara’s self-titled comeback project breathed a sigh of relief yesterday when it was announced that the singer had finally returned to the top forty of the Billboard Hot 100 with “Body Party”. However, before we get crunk and make it rain, let’s take a moment to acknowledge the many songs that flopped on Ciara’s way back to the top.
Prior to “Body Party”, Ciara had not scored a top forty entry on the Hot 100 since “Love Sex Magic (Ft. Justin Timberlake)”, which peaked at #10 on the lineup in 2009. In fact, only one of her singles – “Ride (Ft. Ludacris)” – managed to crack the chart during the last four years, despite several of those records allegedly being placed in power rotation on various media platforms.
Now, thanks to the writing skills of Future and the trendy productions of Mike WiLL Made It, Ciara has regained moderate relevancy on the Hot 100 as “Body Party” debuted at #35 on the lineup this week. To commemorate this achievement, check out Ciara’s rocky journey back to the promise land below:
