When rumours began to circulate that Kelly Rowland would join the judges panel of The X Factor (US), there was backlash by critics who assumed that she would be too nice. However, they’re about to get a glimpse of the assertive woman who was the standout mentor and main reason to watch the UK version of the show.
That’s right, Rowland has officially been announced as one of the three new X Factor (US) judges, along with Paulina Rubio and Demi Lovato. The trio of singers, who hail from completely different sectors of the music industry, will join Simon Cowell on the show when it kicks off in the fall.
“I am very excited to be reuniting with Simon Cowell and THE X FACTOR family,” exclaimed Rowland. “It feels great to be able to take this journey here at home in the states!” In case you didn’t know, Rowland left the UK show after a bitter feud with the other judges stemming from their unfair critiques against members of her team.
“Kelly’s incredible talent as a member of one of the world’s most successful groups, Destiny’s Child, combined with her judging experience as part of the U.K. version of The X Factor, make her an ideal choice to join this talented panel,” stated Trish Kinane, Executive Producer for FremantleMedia North America.
Rowland will release her Talk a Good Game album on June 18th. Watch her perform on X Factor UK in 2011 below:
