There are several perks associated with being a member of Knowles clan and Solange proved that with a major announcement earlier today. Without a major hit or certified album to her name, Beyonce younger sister has launched her own label, Saint Records, under the Sony Music Entertainment umbrella.
Solange has yet to score a Billboard Hot 100 hit or prove herself as a guide for rising talent behind the scenes by launching the career of successful artists yet she somehow landed a major deal with Sony. Through Saint Records, she will have full creative control over all her upcoming projects, including a full studio album, which is due in 2015.
Of course, Solange’s surprising weight at Sony may not entirely be a result of Beyonce’s assistance or the influence of their father, Mathew Knowles. After all, she is still managed by Roc Nation, which is the same company that scored Rita Ora her own episode of MTV Unplugged without ever releasing an album in the US. Get money, Solange.
