Mariah Carey and Miguel

It’s as if Mariah Carey flipped a switch and flooded the media with news! The latest development in her comeback campaign involves the premiere date for her new “Beautiful” song’s accompanying video, which will hit the airwaves via an episode of American Idol next week.

The “Beautiful” video will debut on May 8th, which is just two days after it’s May 6th on iTunes release. Featuring Miguel, who also served as co-writer and co-producer, the three-minute, twenty-three-second record has been described by Showbiz 411 as mid-tempo Pop song with “an unusual and sophisticated melody”  framed by an acoustic guitar.

Carey’s album is currently projected to arrive in stores by early July, and it will incorporate “lots of great singing, no Hip-Hop and all songs with a capital S.” If these details are indeed accurate then the diva may finally achieve the major chart success that has generally eluded her post-2008.
