Did you know that Diana Ross has only topped the Billboard 200 once in over 40 years as a solo artist?
Despite scoring 6 #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 as a solo act, none of Ross 24 studio albums reached the peak of the Billboard 200 and her best-performing effort among those records was 1980′s Diana, which stalled at #2. In fact, the only release by the icon to claim the chart summit was her gold-certified Lady Sings the Blues soundtrack in 1972.
However, as a member of The Supremes, Ross topped the Billboard 200 on 3 occasions – The Supremes A’ Go-Go in 1966, Greatest Hits in 1967 and the TCB soundtrack in 1968. Additionally, the collective accomplished 12 #1 hits on the Hot 100, which is more than any girl group and ranks them fourth among all acts.
