Chris Brown must have access to a fine-tuned spirit board to help him channel the energy of so many fallen artists. Following his tribute to Michael Jackson on the song “Fine China”, the tattooed entertainer has prepared another new single for release and it will feature Aaliyah.
While announcing the 2013 BET Awards nominations earlier today, Brown revealed that his next single, “They Don’t Know”, will included never before heard vocals by Aaliyah. In fact, her has already filmed the song’s accompanying video and he promised that will tell the story of people on the streets.
“I shot [the "They Don't Know" video] in the hood. Bringing both worlds together and trying to uplift the poverty side of the community and show them where I’m from,” stated Brown. “I’m from Virginia but everybody comes from a broken home or being broke. I remember when I was broke.”
Brown’s protege Sevyn Streeter recently performed a cover of Aaliyah’s “Come Over” during her sessions for The Warner Sound so perhaps that’s where he got the idea for his own tribut. “They Don’t Know” will appear on Brown’s X album, which will hit stores on July 16th. Drake – Brown’s rival and adoring Aaliyah fan – has yet to comment.
