Kelly Clarkson clearly never saw the movie Species because if she did, she would avoid freeing dangerous mutants from secret experimental facilities. In the singer’s new video for her latest Greatest Hits: Chapter One single, “People Like Us”, she rescues a mysterious child from a group of dark figures, thus putting her spin on a popular movie theme.

The “People Like Us” video was filmed at the Mission Street Lab in South Pasadena, California. Directed by Chris Marrs Piliero, the production features stunning special effects, BMW product placement and a glimpse of how Clarkson would look with a PhD. Yet, does it all work?

“People Like Us” is a typical Clarkson video with aggressive faces and hands to the sky but it the added storyline suits the song. For a Greatest Hits single, this clip is good enough. Watch it below:
