Mariah Carey and Miguel

Break out the candles and the white wine because Mariah Carey has issued the video for her new single, “#Beautiful” featuring Miguel. Directed by Joseph Kahn, the visual is the latest release in a string of carefully timed steps in Carey’s monster comeback media campaign.

“#Beautiful” is currently on track for a lofty debut on the Billboard Hot 100 next week. With over 31 million audience impression garnered in its 2 days on the  airwaves, the song entered the Billboard Radio Songs chart at #44 as one of the most successful lead singles of Carey’s career. The “#Beautiful” video is basically a collection of flirty glamour shots but that is exactly what I expected when the song debuted – Carey showing off her new body as her hair blows in the breeze from her wind machine and Miguel looking on from the background with pride. Let’s all just be happy that Carey looks great and didn’t ruin a strong song with a terrible supporting clip as she did with “H.A.T.E.U.”. Twirl, Carey, twirl.
